High blood pressure, often referred to as the “silent killer,” rarely has noticeable symptoms but can significantly increase your risk of heart attack or stroke. At our pharmacy, we are committed to helping our local community stay healthy by providing a professional free blood pressure check in Barkin Road.
This NHS-funded service is designed to identify people with high blood pressure who haven’t yet been diagnosed, allowing for earlier intervention and better long-term health outcomes. If you are over 40 and haven’t had a check recently, visiting our NHS blood pressure pharmacy in Plaistow is a quick and easy way to gain peace of mind.
According to NHS data, millions of people in the UK have high blood pressure without knowing it. The only way to find out is to have it checked. By opting for a free BP test in E13, you are taking a proactive step toward protecting your cardiovascular health.

This service is primarily available to adults aged 40 and over who do not already have a diagnosis of high blood pressure. However, we can also provide checks at the request of a GP or if the pharmacist feels it is clinically appropriate for you.
The test itself takes about 5 minutes, but we allow 10 to 15 minutes so we can discuss your results and offer any necessary health advice.
While we do accept bookings, we are proud to offer a walk-in blood pressure check in Plaistow. You can usually be seen within a few minutes of arriving.
To get the most accurate reading, try to avoid caffeine, smoking, or heavy exercise for at least 30 minutes before your test. It is also helpful to wear a loose-sleeved top so the cuff can be placed easily on your arm.
If your reading is high, don’t panic. One high reading doesn’t always mean you have hypertension. We may ask you to come back for a repeat check or provide you with a 24-hour monitor (ABPM) to see how your blood pressure behaves over a full day. We will also inform your GP of the results.
